Bumpy ride

*sniff sniff*

I had the WORST ride of my life today ... literally a BUMPY RIDE!

CAAS called for few tenders for retail outlets at the new upcoming Low Cost Terminal (LCT - should be operating early 2006).  So since the past 1 week, we held tender briefings and site showround.  I'd like to believe this afternoon was the last briefing.  Briefing for the tender I called was the 1st to be held last Wed morning... but I couldn't make it to visit the site (of the Terminal under construction).  Not that I was dying to go, but when it comes to work, I'm game for anything & everything (err..work related that is!).

Yesterday, I marketed the tender to a potential tenderer and she's interested to explore the opportunity to set up a shop at the LCT.  So today, we got her to hitch a ride on my colleague's briefing, after which, we all went to the LCT.  And that was my 1st visit..totally unplanned & unprepared!

We went in our corporate CAAS van.  A pathetic 11-seater.  And when the vehicle entered the construction site, AMAZING RACE came to mind.  The state of the sand was so uneven that it was the worst vehicle ride of my life!  There were no seatbelts & all of us were literally holding & hanging on tight to our seat's metal bar to avoid being flung!!  And twice, whenever I alighted the van, my head hit the top of the door.

LctThe 20,000m² site was abt two-fifth ready..Dusty..Muddy.  Typically, a construction site.  We had to walk v. carefully to prevent tripping on metal rods.  Luckily the Terminal is roofed already and the wall structure has been built, otherwise, God saves us if it rained!!

Heading back, the van's wheel got stuck in a mud-puddle..and I silently wondered if the van will ever get out of it..The fact I'm sitting here blogging is evident enough that the van did manage to get its wheel out of that puddle..duh!Sharulct_19oct05  We reached Terminal 2 safe & sound..but I think for now..until the LCT is four-fifth ready at least, today shall be my 1st & only trip to the "under-construction" LCT!!!  If you still can't imagine how bad the trip was, I think my picture tells a 1000 words..of how much I "enjoyed" the site viewing!
