Holy Cow!!!

I stumbled upon a familiar name on the tagboard of Habibi Liah's blog - HAJIRA BEGUM...itchified...went to check her identity out (if...just if this Hajira Begum is my nephew Naz Mohd's wife) ... and HOLY COW!!!! The 1st thing I saw on the front of the blog is Naz's face.

Now I know why Liah is not a fan of my blog anymore ... she's bz reading Hajira's blog.  Muaaahhaaahhaaahhaaaaa .... Nooooo ... I got competition now!!!  Like I care ... hehehe.  Errrmmm ... I do actually, I HATE COMPETITION!

What a small world ... Indian Muslim community is.  This is scary.  Oh well, nevertheless, thanks to this new discovery, I had a gd time updating myself on the development of my cousins (Naz's parents), nephews & grandnephews (and g/niece now).  Although it's probably just a matter of weeks before I see them. Yes, annual affair, Eid.  I've not met anyone for the past 2 Eids coz I was bz with my course, but now that it's over, I'm back to celebrating Eid.

HOLY COW!!! It's 2am! I btr get some sleep...or I'll have trouble waking up for sahur.  Won't be sleeping back after subuh prayers & ngaji, gotta iron crystal beads on mom's tudung (special request, she jealous la see me do on mine)... So with that, I'm so gonna lack sleep now.  But who cares, today will be my last day @ work.  Will take my annual long break for Eid ... back to work only on 7 Nov (ya, get jealoused Liah...u're welcome!) ... I can catch up on all the lost sleep.

The world of hypocrisy

I dunno why I'm even posting this!

I'm trying to be very diplomatic ... so as not to be caught & charged with mis-blogging ... but I just can't help hating the fact that people profess that I inspire them to pursue Islam ...wants to try and fulfill their fasts this yr (unlike the previous yrs) ... but all they do is have fun and blog about how they have lunch during fasting month.  And they are busy shopping for Hari Raya!?

My mom taught me : "tak posa tak bleh raya!" (don't fast cannot hari raya)

She also taught me : "tak posa tak bleh dok buka dgn org posa, nanti kepala kluar tanduk macam setan!" (not fasting cannot sit & break fast with those fasting, wait horns will come out of your head like devils)

I don't regret NOT wishing ppl intentionally on their b'days coz I'm not a hypocrite. I don't do things if I'm not sincere abt it.  I don't believe that just bcoz the person wish u on ur b'day u're obligated to return the gesture.  So if u get a b'day wish from me w/o fail every yr, YOU'VE BEEN BLESSED WITH MY SINCERE LOVE.

Ya, ya .. I'm a superbitch .. I know .. tell me something I don't know! Please.

7 more days!!!

Gosh I just can't wait for Ramadhan to end ... this lack of sleep is taking its toll on me already.  Just slept, need to wake up for sahur .. .then just slept agn, need to wake up for work! Arrggghhhh!!!

Anyways ... yesterday, helped mom made our special Tarts till 1.30am.  This yr, we decided not to do the normal Tarts.  Instead we used tiny cups to make the base (shape kinda reminds of Kuih Baulu!?) ...Anyways, our Tarts tastes as good as it looks!!!  Mom's specialty.  Sorry, not for sale.

Today I helped her made tiny epok-epok.  This traditional kuihs are a must every Hari Raya in my house.

I'm tired ... I'm under pressure to try complete the Quran in the next 7 days (which seems impossible!) and I can't wait to meet Granny on Hari Raya!

6000km!!!

Wooohooo!!!

My car finally reached 6000km (10 months old!)...and I managed to capture the moment!

From 1000km to 5000km, everytime it hit the next '000km, I'd be on the road.  This time, I was wide awake before driving off from airport this evening.  So...me being vain, I took the trouble to capture the moment using my Samsung SGH-X600A (courtesy of bro's hand-me-down phone!)...didn't have my PC-Cam with me.  Not bad eh?!

Ok ok .. Cookie Monster going to make the 2nd round of Choc Chip Cookie.

Cookie Monster!!!

Yeeeahhh...it's finally a complete Eid preparation for me this year.  If the past 2 yrs was incomplete coz I wasn't able to make cookies...I made up for it this year.

I made HazelNut Cookie last night (8pm-12am).  It was not too bad. Nothing went wrong, except, while it was an easy one-step recipe, kneading the mixture into a dough left me sighing.  But Magician Mama came to rescue.  She did something to the dough to make it easier for me to knead..and all was alright after that.  The outcome:

This afternoon, I made Chocolate Chip Cookie (12.30-3.30pm). Apart from chocholate chip, I dumped mini M&M's.  Instead of almond, I used hazelnut (I think I'm hazel crazy this yr!  The last time I made cookies, I was cocoa crazy!).  Well, the outcome of this one:

*sob sob* ... Rex De Souza didn't win...

Habibi Liah..u muz be very happy your Qazi Touqeer has won (together with Rupu auntie .. hehe)!!!  Congratz 2u! *hmmmphh*

This was the longest wait of my life .. for the announcement of the winner!!  Despite migraine .. and despite having to wake up for sahur @ 5am .. I'm still up @ 1.15am to know the winner (in hope of Rex winning!).

PS: Oh .. for the benefit of those scratching head rite now, this is abt the Indian fame search on Sony Entertainment Television (courtesy of Starhub Cable) called FAME GURUKUL.  It's like the smaller version of Idol.  Today was the finale.

Bumpy ride

*sniff sniff*

I had the WORST ride of my life today ... literally a BUMPY RIDE!

CAAS called for few tenders for retail outlets at the new upcoming Low Cost Terminal (LCT - should be operating early 2006).  So since the past 1 week, we held tender briefings and site showround.  I'd like to believe this afternoon was the last briefing.  Briefing for the tender I called was the 1st to be held last Wed morning... but I couldn't make it to visit the site (of the Terminal under construction).  Not that I was dying to go, but when it comes to work, I'm game for anything & everything (err..work related that is!).

Yesterday, I marketed the tender to a potential tenderer and she's interested to explore the opportunity to set up a shop at the LCT.  So today, we got her to hitch a ride on my colleague's briefing, after which, we all went to the LCT.  And that was my 1st visit..totally unplanned & unprepared!

We went in our corporate CAAS van.  A pathetic 11-seater.  And when the vehicle entered the construction site, AMAZING RACE came to mind.  The state of the sand was so uneven that it was the worst vehicle ride of my life!  There were no seatbelts & all of us were literally holding & hanging on tight to our seat's metal bar to avoid being flung!!  And twice, whenever I alighted the van, my head hit the top of the door.

LctThe 20,000m² site was abt two-fifth ready..Dusty..Muddy.  Typically, a construction site.  We had to walk v. carefully to prevent tripping on metal rods.  Luckily the Terminal is roofed already and the wall structure has been built, otherwise, God saves us if it rained!!

Heading back, the van's wheel got stuck in a mud-puddle..and I silently wondered if the van will ever get out of it..The fact I'm sitting here blogging is evident enough that the van did manage to get its wheel out of that puddle..duh!Sharulct_19oct05  We reached Terminal 2 safe & sound..but I think for now..until the LCT is four-fifth ready at least, today shall be my 1st & only trip to the "under-construction" LCT!!!  If you still can't imagine how bad the trip was, I think my picture tells a 1000 words..of how much I "enjoyed" the site viewing!

I feel like Madhuri Dixit today!

Today I really feel like Madhuri Dixit.

I was driving (with mom next to me) this afternoon to check out Serangoon bazaar while going for my survey (for work) at Mustaffa Centre...as we were turning left to Tekka Market..there was a sch bus in front of my car..ferrying St Margaret Pri Sch students.  The traffic light was red...and as I braked gradually, I caught sight of these 2 gals (1 indian & 1 chinese)...sitting at the back of the bus...trying to get my attention...waving at me with high-voltage smiles...like I'm some star!  Awww..so sweet rite? All the things kids do for cheap thrill!  I shyly waved back at them with a smile.  They got so excited..laughed and sat down, hiding their face.  Later they stood up agn, and started waving agn.  Think they did it for 3x, and by then I quipped to mom "Why do I feel like I'm Madhuri Dixit today?!"

We had a gd laugh..but when I think agn...no wonder stars are friendly at the 1st wave...but by the 3rd wave they get very uptight...like "Wat the hell man .. enuf is enuf la!!"

Anyways..that was cheap thrill on my part..afterall, not everyday that I get to feel like a star!

Today we complete the 9th day of fasting.  21 days more to go...and I'm getting more desperate to catch up with my Quran reading to be able to complete all 30 Juz (chapters) in the 30 days of fasting.  If I do 1 Juz per day, I may not be able to complete it as girls by default ... errmm ... are granted at least 7 days of "MC" by God...if you know what I mean! *wink*

Last Movie

I woke up late today...but I managed to squeeze everything in barely 1 hr and still leave for Bedok to catch one last movie (which was supposed 2b my reward for completing my project!) b4 Ramadhan arrives and all entertainment/enjoyment comes to a complete halt...

I went to catch Amitabh Bachchan's 6th movie for 2005!  Not bad this ol' man..he has more releases than some Shahrukh Khan!!  Oh well...the movie I watched was "Dil Jo Bhi Kahey" (Whatever The Heart Says).  Not bad.  Shan't waste time talking abt it here...u can read my review of the movie on http://www.sharbz_mahal.blogspot.com/... all I'm saying here is that the movie was worth my last $8.50!!  More importantly it was a fulfilling way to end my last wkend and prepare myself for fasting mth which is due to arrive (officially) on Tues 4 Oct 2005.

Yes, I've rewarded myself for completing my project!!  I feel so reincarnated ... living my life all over again.

To all my muslim brothers & sisters reading this :

Ramadhan Mubarak!

Can't watch CHOCOLATE? Gorge ourselves with CHOCOLATE!

Yipppeee!! Finally, Nikky & I managed to catch up for her Muddy Mud Pie @ Coffee Club @ Raffles Place.  We wanted to catch a hindi movie, "CHOCOLATE", but the timing wasn't gd for either of us on a wkday, and wkend was out for both of us.  So we settled for a short chill-out session as she had her commitments. Despite the shortness, we made full use of the short time and made it so memorable with our antics!

Nikky had her fave Muddy Mud Pie Muddymudpiewhile I tried the ChocfrootyChocolate Fondue (variety of fruits to dip with hot chocolate).  The fruits, except for bananas, were so darn sour!  With our "table manners" & "dining etiquette", we attracted the attention of 2 ladies who had come to Coffee Club for the 1st time and didn't know what to order!

I managed to ensure that Nikky reaches home @ 8.30pm as her mom was consistently bugging her.  I can't resist a challenge!  And the challenge in this case was for her mom to be rest assured her daughter is safe when with me and whatever time she wanted her daughter home, I WILL PERSONALLY ensure she's home by then!  Chill aunty!  Hehe ... Anyways, guess whatever we had today is sinful enuf to get us on the road of repentance for the next 2 mths at least ... and I need to remember to just ask for bananas and refuse the other fruits the next time I choose to order Chocolate Fondue!
