Depressed agn...RETAIL THERAPY all over agn!!

I nvr mentioned der's dis 38 yr old lady sitting in front of me - let's call her CCL - who's a blardy ‘slow-motion-lor soh-kay poh-copycat’!!  I can't stand her (for few reasons)...it's really my misfortune dat she sits in front of me.   Whenever any of us are talking, she'll always eavesdrop & then interrupt & butt in the conversation, unwelcomed!  Whenever any of us buy anything, food, bag, etc...the next day, u'll see the same thing on her desk.  Now, y am I blabbering abt dis bitch when I can't even stand the sight of her?!? 

Remember this entry?  The last thing dat was supposed to wrap up my Retail Therapy for dat particular depressing phase was the $388 Nokia 6280, for which I had done all my researching, recce-ing, reservation and was supposed to arrange for its delivery once I get my next pay on 12 May.

Anyways, on Mon, I came to work & my colleague, who sits on my left, Kak Misah, casually told me "CCL changed her hp tau".  Hmmm..usually, whenever any of us get a new hp, we'll usually share the joy amongst each other.  So I wanted to tease CCL for changing her hp but nvr shared wif us.  (Note: It is a known office fact since the last 1 mth dat I'm in the midst of changing to Nokia 6280.  However, der wasn't any signs of CCL intending or planning to change her hp.  Oh btw, she's not a hi-tech person.)  Den Kak Misah signaled to me not to ask her anything.  So I said "Oh, secret is it? Ok lor..".  Suddenly, as I was doing my work, I had a very bad feeling.  So I turned to my colleague behind me, Fizah, & asked her what phone did CCL buy.  Fizah gav me a sad expression & gestured "the phone dat u're buying, 6280".  My blood shot to my head!!!!  I feel like getting up & bashing CCL up. 

She did the same thing 2 yrs ago when I was saving up for a blue Nokia 7250i.  Another colleague, also a Nokia fan like me, bought the maroon one.  Yes, no doubt CCL was carrying an ancient elephant-sized phone which all of us tried so hard to persuade her to buy a new one but she's been refusing.  One day, the CARC (Changi Airport Recreation Club) had a Singtel roadshow going on where Singtel had some phones on promotion.  CCL wanted to go & have a look (but she specifically tol us dat she isn’t changing her hp).  And guess wat?  She came back to office with a black 7250i, knowing well that I was saving up for a blue one (coz I was discussing abt it wif my colleague who got the maroon one)!!  I was so pissed but I took it in good stride dat I don't have an exclusive right to dat phone.  It’s juz dat she sits in front of me…too near…so I won’t want ppl coming & keep going “eh, same phone!!”  I’m very particular abt dis kinda unwanted attn!!  Yeah, I’m selfish & I'm a sucker for exclusivity in my belongings.  I don’t like other ppl who’s near me to own the same things dat I have & neither will I get anything dat dey already hav coz I’m not a copycat.  Everybody is well aware of dis character of mine.  Anyways, dat yr, on my b'day my family got me the 7250i nevertheless (no blue, so dey got me the maroon one).  Last yr, it was handed-down to Dad while I inherit bro's Samsung X600A (a gd way to not hav the same phone as CCL).

Back to CCL, from the time Fizah saw her wif the new phone on Mon...she's been hiding it.  Even when she wanna sms, she'll discreetly stuff her hand inside her huge bag & peep to sms!!  As though I can't see her doing dat!!!  Interestingly, everyone in the office, esp the ones she lunches wif (whom incidentally knows abt my plan to get the 6280), had no clue she changed her phone...which dey cldn't fathom why the secrecy!  Arre yaar…it's so obvious, she's GUILTY!!!  She knows dat if any of dem saw she changed to Nokia 6280, dey'll lambast her for copying my plan!!  Worst still, she knows dat she'll get a earful from me if I knew!!!  No prizes for guessing wat she'll do: She'll feign ignorance dat she didn't know I was planning to get dat phone.  And guess wat?!?!  I refuse to believe dat she's not heard the open conversations I've had wif so many of our colleagues, in her presence, and my ravings & excitement when I finally decided dat I'm getting the Nokia 6280.  As a matter of fact, she even once asked me if the phone was gd, but I had no clue she had an ulterior motive for asking...I innocently thought she was sharing my joy.

As everyone wld have known me...I’ll not buy the phone already liow.  I was so depressed, cried for 2 nights (only coz I wished I cld bash CCL up for wat she did…agn & agn, nvr changed!!).  I guess it was also PMS for me...so I was ultra-sensitive.  That night after I prayed, I had a heart-2-heart chat wif Allah, asking HIM if I was in the wrong for reacting the way I did.  After dat, I tried to calm down & did some soul-searching.  What followed was: All my 1 mth effort of researching, recce-ing, getting excited, etc etc came b4 my eyes!!  I felt why shld I sacrifice my wish after all those effort, time & energy invested!?!?  Juz bcoz one blardy bitch decided to play dirty wif me!?!?!  So I decided not to wait for 12 May & arranged for the delivery of my phone immediately (it’s arriving on Wed 3 May).

Once my phone is in the open & she finally reveals to everyone dat she changed her phone & den pretend to act surprised dat her hp is the same as mine...I'll make sure I shame her publicly (not that ppl dunno her true colours already)!!  I know dis wil nvr change...she'll nvr change...2 yrs later if I'm on the road to change my hp, she'll do the same thing agn...but 1 thing wil change for sure: I'll nvr discuss my personal plans loudly in office anymore!!!  Whatever I buy, I'll make sure she doesn't see!!  I loathe her!!  Bcoz of wat she did, a new depression has set in, which requires a totally new regime of Retail Therapy (ok, I’m financially stable now, but I didn’t win a lottery ok!!)!!! 

This morning, I chauffered mom to Bedok market as she needed to get Briyani Powder.  After dat, we decided to head to Geylang for lunch @ my fave Hawa Restaurant @ Onan Rd (been a while since I went der).  I parked @ Joo Chiat Complex...and we walked arnd Ming Seng Goldsmith, tudung shop (got 3 tudungs = $15) & den we passed by a curtain/bedsheet shop "Mawar Textiles" at some corner of the 2nd floor.  I saw some satin bedsheets going @ 1/2 price so I asked Mom to do the "how much" enquiring & bargaining for me.  The satin one is $85 but on offer for $50.  The  cotton ones in dis picture, is $65 but on offer for $35. 

Somehow, we got enticed to their "today only promotion" for their bridal set.   A $2000++  bedsheet+backdrop set is going for $500 only.  The one in the picture, which is $1000++, is going for $300 & comes with 1 $50 satin + 1 $35 cotton bedsheets free.  If you don't want the satin one, you can choose 3 cotton ones!!!  So guess wat I did?  I bought the $300 set (nope, no wedding bells round the corner!!) & took a blue, purple & green cotton bedsheets free!!!  I'm not sure what I'll do wif the bridal set, maybe sell it away (I was only looking for cotton bedsheets for Hari Raya use anyways!) but I wldn't mind keeping it for my own wedding (if it ever will happen!)!! 

So u see…bcoz of my latest depression caused by CCL, I'm $300 poorer today & dunno how much poorer I’ll get until I get over dis depression!!!!

April Kids In Da House

On 2nd April (bro's bdae), he gave the family (minus Dad) a lunch treat @ Segar Restaurant in Bedok.  I left home arnd 11-ish and went to recce hp @ Tampines Mall, then grabbed a comic strip cake (since he's comic crazy!) from Polar Puff b4 heading to Bedok to continue my hp recce.  The ambience at Segar was great, no crowd, quick service.  Best part was when we asked the in-charge for 5 small plates for our cakes, they asked if it's someone's b'day.  All of us spontaneously just pointed @ the b'day boy & guess what?  She came back with 5 plates and then 5 Red Ruby dessert on the house!!!  Sweet eh!!  After that, I headed for my Face Laser Treatment.

20 days later, 22 Apr comes Mom's bdae.  So today, she treated us lunch @ Suko Thai Restaurant @ Terminal 2 (she loves the food there!).  As conspired wif Sis b4 we left home, on the pretext of going to toilet, I headed to Polar, 2 storeys down to get a Hello Kitty cake (since she's crazy abt Hello Kitty!).  After that, I headed for my Face Laser Treatment.  Yeah...as boring as it sounds, that's how my Sundays are these days since the last couple of mths!!

TPSS Turn Twenty

Tampines Sec Sch - the place I spent 4 yrs of my life's best moments - is in the midst of setting up it's ALUMNI.  In conjunction of it's 20th anniversary celebration, TPSS has organised a series of events which will eventually lead to a GALA Dinner where the ALUMNI will be launched.

Although I signed up 2b part of TPSS ALUMNI (I also signed up for Upper Iowa University's ALUMNI), I wasn't keen to participate in any of its activities.  However, on Thurs, my best fren Wirza persuaded me to join her for the carnival on 22 Apr coz she's bringing Shamim (my God-daughter).  So, since Wirza has yet to meet me for me to pass Shamim's b'day present (since 30 Mar - her b'day), I thought I'll just join her only so I can pass Shamim's present. 

Wirza's hubby chauffeured us to TPSS this morning arnd 10.30am (yeah, today's the 1st Sat I woke up @ 9am since I work 5-day week!!).  The whole experience was nothing but nostalgic - to walk thru' every corner of the sch which reminded us both of our happy ... and errrmmm ... naughty moments (Technical lab included)!  All experience/memories captured/stored on camera, so here's where u can view the fun we had.

It better be KARUNYA...or NO ONE at all!

I think it's pretty obvious why the weekly Indian Idol 2 updates from me has stopped.  The moment Amey Date - the Idol I'd have wanted to idolize - was booted out & the Udit-copycat-but-cute-smile Sandeep who shld be out is still in, I don't think the show deserves my time anymore.  However, I just wished the Abhishek-lookalike Karunya all the best & I think if there's anyone who deserves to be the next Indian Idol, it's none other than Karunya.  And true enough, he stayed on till the final 2.  Shockingly, to compete against the not-so-talented-but-cute-smile Sandeep who shld have been booted out way earlier!! 

Oh well, my mom's wants to watch the final on 22 Apr (her b'day) @ 10.30pm - in hope that Karunya shld win (she's impressed with his talent).   Since she's watching, I shall watch along, coz Habibi Liah who's out of S'pore has assigned me to (she knows that if Karunya wins, I'll post an entry & if there's no entry abt the winner, then it's obvious that what shldn't happen happened).  I know Karunya shld win, but I won't be surprised or depressed if he doesn't, coz I'm quite accustomed to the fact that this show is not abt talent but abt cute smile (with due respect to the talented 1st Indian Idol - Abhijeet Sawant - who had an equally heart-melting smile!). 

So you see, despite Karunya's talent, he may just not be fated to win!!

The excitement's been over since the last 4 mths...and today, it came back all over again...seeing a banner ad in 1 of my emails in hotmail.  An ad was made by Raffles Campus to promote their instituition and their programs in partnership with Upper Iowa University.  Guess wat?!  They had use 1 of our shots post the graduation ceremony on 27 Dec!!!  Hey!!  That makes me, technically, a MODEL!!  Hehehe!

Retail Therapy in progress...

Went 4 survey 2 Best Denki & Mustaffa 2day.  Dropped by Harbourfront 2 check out BIG (Safe Superstore)'s  weekend offer.  Join as BIG member for $10 (usual: $50) & enjoy some gd bargains.  1 of this wk's bargain for members is a PRESTIGIO 100GB external hard disk drive, usual: $399, offer: $249, member: $199.  I've been wanting 2 get an external hdd but refuse 2 spend beyond $200.  So der I was, got the stuff.  Total spent @ BIG: $205.

Headed 2 Mustaffa 4 survey.  Guess wat!?!? $@!?&% ...the same 1GB SD card I bought @ Harvey for $99 & then got it matched @ $75 is selling @ $60 @ Mustaffa!!!  Blardy hell, I realy regret!  I think fm now, I'll make sure I dun buy anything anywhere until I check out the price @ Mustaffa 1st!!!  Everything is so dirt cheap der!

Met up wif Nikky 4 dinner & then headed back 2 Tampines Mall...went 2 Starhub 2 buy Nokia 6280 (I btr get the hp & end my retail therapy b4 I go broke!).  I was so ready 2 buy it...till dey told me dat 2 sign up 4d lowest plan, must top up $100 more (ie. $488 instead of $388!).  Blardy ketuk siak!  I refused 2 proceed...gonna check out outside retailers if got such things.  I recce everywhere, no one said anything abt lowest plan is $488.

Headed back to Tampines Interchange, along the EastLink walkway, spotted striped long-sleeve T-shirts (my fave!) @ dis shop called NAFF (new age fashion forward) going @ $5 so grabbed 2 like buying fish!! Nikky help 2 decide which colour not to take! Hahaha.

Oh btw, my car looks cool now wif the bumper-guard fixed!! *grinz  ear2ear*

I find THESE irritating...

• Sch-going kids (I can't imagine adults doing dis!) - If ur blardy mobile fone has mp3 function, stuff ur ears wif the earpiece (I'm sure it comes wif d fone!)...dun play ur mp3 in public!! I don't enjoy ur blardy chinese or indonesian/malay song!!  (Haan, if it was hindi song, I may - just may - sing along!). 

*1st of all, these sch-going kids shldn't be carrying a hp, but now dat dey r, simple fone is insufficient, muz be so hi-tech & den cause nuisance in public!!*

• Stupid arseholes - If der's some1 in front of u, y dya tap ur card wen it's not ur turn 2 pass!!  Use ur brain & stop being a typical s'porean (kiasu!).  This applies in the bus too!!  If u try 2 tap urs while the 1 in front of u who's abt 2 alight is already waiting 2 tap, u'll cause some machine error & either 1 of the cards left untapped, resulting in everybody's time delayed!!  Do dat 2 me agn & I hope u'll fall dwn the bus steps so I can step on u like a plank & hav a wonderful day ahead!!

• Boys (& some boy-wannabe gals!) - The bus lane railings r 4 ppl 2b in queue, it's not 4u 2 sit & put ur dirty shoes all over the railings!!  And by sitting der, ur blardy ass is causing the lane 2 get so narrow, ppl wil sprain their waist trying 2 manouver sideways & walk like a crab!!

• Unhygienic & disgusting species - Pls blow ur nose or clear ur phlegm or dig ur nose in the toilet!!!   Oh...and pls cover ur mouth wen coughing & sneezing!!!  Do it nxt 2 me or behind me agn w/o covering ur mouth, I swear I'll suck out all the phlegm from my lungs & spit it on ur face (dis I learn from my guru - Jim Carrey aka Ace Ventura Pet Detective)!! 

• Kiasu S'poreans - Dun show urself so obviously by running out of MRT doors 2b d 1st 2 get 2 the escalator.  If u r in a hurry 2 get dwn d escalator, everybody els is not in less hurry, dey're juz more civilized & care 4 safety!!!

• No brainers - Those ppl @ MRT platform standing behind the angular yellow line wif arrow marking r not models posing how 2 stand bhind d yellow line.  They're queueing!!!  So if u're not in dat queue, who tol u u can juz barge in wen the MRT door opens?!

• Language idiots - Despite the reminders in 4 languages, u still dun understand rite?  PLS GIVE WAY TO ALIGHTING PASSENGERS!!!!  If u miss the train, u'll get another 1 to bring u 2 ur destination.  If alighting passengers dun get 2 come out, dey'll miss their destination despite having reached!!

Overcoming depression with RETAIL THERAPY...

Dun ask me y...some things juz can't be expressed or shared.  But yes, 4 dos who've known me well enuf, wld hav guessed dat the reason for the long hiatus is...DEPRESSION.

My life has been either nothing 2 blog abt, nothing worth blogging or the issues can't be blogged!  There were times wen I observe certain things dat I wish 2 vent my frustration on (the blog)...but I nvr got dwn 2 sit & pen it!  Almost 1 mth of my life passed...juz like dat!

Wealth wise has been Alhamdulillah. With all the unexpected bonuses, since Mar's pay day till May (12th), I've been getting paid on a fortnightly basis!! I'm really enjoying it, the enjoyment will be over once I get my pay on 12th May!! Then it'll be back to monthly salary...I'll grit my teeth till the next payday on 12th Jun! 

Last wkend, I finally fulfilled the charity bit that I've been putting off 4 some time now due to missing chances to drop by Darul Ma'wa (lack of time).  I also recce-ed the 3 phones that I was considering: Nokia 6280, Samsung D820 & Motorola Razr V3x.  I was initially aiming @ Motorola SLVR L6 or L7 bcoz of it's slimness, but then I wanted to give myself a treat by buying a new phone, when Nokia finally reverted 2 decent designs of my liking wif its new 6280!  So I wanted 2 go back 2 my Nokia fanatism.  After recce-ing, I've decided on Nokia 6280 ($388 wif new Starhub line). 

Yest (Thurs) I went for Survey @ Funan & really decided on Nokia already, but guess what, 6280 is out of stock.  I tried calling the Tampines 201D outlet, also out of stock.  I wanted 2 try my luck today, I called the Eastpoint outlet, they told me "it's out of stock whole of S'pore!!"  I went 2 Funan 4 survey agn, stocks are still not it!!  Darn, think I'm not fated for the new hp.

X-box 360 is like the IN thing now!!  It's everywhere...I see it on the banners, I get flyers on the road...everywhere!! I've always been a game freak!  I lurve racing games (coz I dun race in real life!)!!  U noe how I am when I'm depressed rite?!  Spent w/o thinking!!  I was really close 2 buying it...but had no heart 2 fork out $660 @ 1 go!!  So I controlled.

Then I headed 2 Suntec's Harvey Norman.  While doing my survey, I saw a Kingston 1GB SD card @ $99, which is cheap, considering the cheapest 1GB card I can get is @ Mustaffa @ $105.  So I bought it.  Very happy to get a 1GB card below 100 bucks!  So I grabbed it!

Then, I moved on 2 Courts.  I was pretending 2b interested in purchasing a digital camera & asked 4 recommendation.  And this super salesman started 2 recommend Samsung i50.  $599, comes with three 512MB SD card & two lithium battery!!  The features are so cool!!  But...I don't need three 512MB, I already have one 128MB & one 1GB card, now, I've juz got another 1GB card!! Wasted!!  I wldn't mind getting juz the camera @ a cheaper price.  I was really tempted, but I managed 2 enforce self-control on myself!  Hehe.

Next stop: Carrefour.  While doing my survey, I saw the same Kingston 1GB SD card.  Hoping 2 see the same price or higher, I my heart missed a beat wen I saw the price as $75!!!  I almost cried.  I mean, if $1 or $2 is fine, but I've juz spent $24 more!!  I took the receipt, called Harvey & enquired on their refund policy & the guys there were so nice, they told me 2 bring the receipt & they'll match the price & refund me the difference.  I headed back 2 Harvey & got my refund, w/o fuss.  I was so so impressed wif the service & how they honoured their policy w/o even bothering 2 check @ Carrefour.  The benefit of doubt they gave 2 me, their customer, was so touching that I told myself I'll always give my $$ to Harvey now!!  They've gotten a supporter out of me.  But of coz, I'll always check other places 1st & if I find it cheaper elsewhere, will snap a pic as proof & buy it @ Harvey @ the cheaper price.  At least, giv the biz 2 Harvey.  Even airport can't offer such service, the retailers fear that it'll b abused by passengers & they'll lose their margins!

Ok, after getting my refund, I headed back 2 Carrefour.  Hey, I've not covered the car-accessories section ok!  My fave.  I can get stuck in dat section alone 4 an hr!!  I ended up buying a hair-removing gel, a new L'oreal foundation (my old foundation is almost 6 yrs old but I've been using it still!)... and @ the car accessories section, I bought a car-bumper guard ($29) 4 my "baby"!  U noe dis thingy in the pic...Left Carrefour $79 bucks poorer. 

Total Damage: 75+79=$154!!

Hmmm...very costly day I had!!  As Shazadi calls it...RETAIL THERAPY.  So I guess, wat I'm doing is actualy overcoming depression wif Retail Therapy.  Hak!!
