Trouble @ work

Yes! How often u get 2 hear me talk abt work rite?!

I almost got into deep shit this afternoon.  Last month, I had booked (online) 1 of our corporate meeting room for a presentation  by CB Richard Ellis to my dept @ 4.30pm on 07/02/2007 (today!).  I booked the room from 4pm to set up the projector while waiting for them.

Something happened to my car rim (minor mishap) 2 days ago, bcoz of which I took 1/2 day a.m. leave to send to Komoco for checking/replacement.  If not for the presentation, I'd have taken full day leave.

So I came in @ 2pm...started work...then @ 3.30pm...decided to go check out the room & familiarise myself.  The HR dept was using the rm! So I was like puzzled, how come despite me booking it & I've a confirmation sheet which we can print after every confirmed booking...HR cld still book it for the whole day.  So I dashed down to my office to check the booking confirmation...yeah...it's today what...07/02/200...6?!?!  Oh shit!!! I've 15 more mins b4 CBRE arrives. I was like franctically searching for another venue.  By the time I found it (thank God our dept just got a new office to accomodate 1/4 of our office staff since our office is lacking space), our new temporary "satellite" office's conference room.  And thank God I had few wonderful colleagues who helped me to make some calls (since I only have 1 fone & can make 1 call @ a time, but I was desperate for time...so I asked 2 of my colleagues to help make some calls to find alternative rooms) and another hero + 1 of my boss who helped with the eventual sourcing of the satellite office's conference rm. 

After I calmed dwn, I finally realize how such a screw-up cld happen.  Our Intranet System is an IDIOT!  I'll have to put in a SUGGESTION to the IT dept....Harlow...which online system wld ever allow past-booking...even if they do, they'll give a dialog box "your booking is in the past...continue?"  W/o such prompters, who wld ever realise that in Jan 2007, they booked 07/02/2006 instead of 07/02/2007!?!?! 

Anyways...got the projector set up...phew, 4.15pm...but shit, CBRE is still not in sight!  Shit, it's only 15 more mins b4 the presentation!  Kept calling CBRE on their mobile, but no one is answering my calls.  Finally, 1 of them returned my call when they've all reached the airport.  Phew...they came in...set up the laptop within 5 mins & while they went to take a toilet break...I gathered all the attendees from my dept...and wallah...the presentation went on well...till almost 7pm!!

So much for my wanting to leave @ 6pm!! Ended up leaving @ 7.15pm.

But honestly...my eyes really played tricks on me...I was v. careful in making sure it was 2007...but yet, I must my fingers muz've been too fast...it got moved to 2006 w/o realisation!  Even when I printed the booking confirmation sheet, I still saw it as 2007.  Why? Must be due to 07/02/200...u get what I mean?? The 7 in front cld have tricked my eyes to not see the 6 at the end!

So yeah...that aside...lady luck was really nxt to me today!  Allah really saved me...ok, I boo-booed...but I was able to control the damage in time!  Syukur Alhamdulillah!
