My organisation finally upgraded me to a higher post w.e.f 1 Apr 07 - after I involved UNION after getting tired of waiting for 14 mths since I graduated in Dec 05 & submitted my degree & my request to be upgraded! Looking back, I think I'd probably have gotten it faster if I was YELLOW! It sucks to be a minority! Really, Shilpa (Shetty).
Upgraded at last...but all I wanted was the extra income (peanuts!) every mth. Wasn't interested with all the other additional perks, like a cubicle or designation etc. Since I know we were shifting office this yr, I told my bosses I didn't wanna move into a cubicle as I've 3 time-sensitive issues on my plate & thus, no time to waste on shifting. But I got a hint later that we might not shift office that soon...at least not this yr, since something major is going to happen after 1 Jul. So since there's this v. cozy cubicle (away from everyone) in our ex-meeting-room-turned-into-office-space...which we fondly call the FISH TANK; basically, a glass room with 7 mgr's cubicles & 1 officer's cubicle. There's only 3 mgrs in that room, while the rest of the vacant cubicles being made as storage space. With more and more officer's joining our Dept., I decided that I wanted to have that lone officer's cubicle at any cost - to free myself from copycats, kaypoh colleagues & distracting stupid phone conversations with kids/husbands/siblings!!!! Gosh, I think I'm the only 1 who wastes my hp bill to get out of office to use my hp to talk long personal stuff!
Anyways, by 3rd wk of Apr, the person responsible for the mess at the vacant officer's cubicle finally cleared the mess for me...and by May I shifted all my stuff (over 3-phases after office hrs) & officially started work @ my new workstation:
That's a peak into my private & peaceful workstation! A v. productive place to work with lesser distractions. Only complaint: my neighbour (the only guy in the fish tank) has a habit of slamming phone/drawers!! I think 1 day, he's gonna get an email from me asking him for a favour to be more mindful of his own actions, as he now has a neighbour!!
So that's the latest change in my life since 1 Apr 2007. When my boss was putting me up for the upgrade, she kept emotionally-blackmailing me "u know la ha, wif a higher post, u've to expect more responsibilities"...& I'd cut her saying "Yea, yea, that Spiderman dialogue - with great power comes great responsibility!"...I felt like also telling her "Harlow! W/o the higher post, all these yrs I'm already doing what that higher post officer shld be doing, how much more can you add on me!?!" I hope they know I'm not some battery-operated robot!!
Oh well, meanwhile...I shall just enjoy whatever I have while it lasts!
